The farther "free, white, and twenty-one" received from its roots while in the Southern U.S. being an encapsulation of essentially the most-favored-citizenship standing less than regulation, the fewer it grew to become about formal rights and duties and the greater it grew to become merely a declaration of freedom to try and do as just one pleased.
